Air India has announced a significant leadership reshuffle within its engineering division as part of its broader transformation agenda under the Tata Group. Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer Sisirakanta Dash will assume the newly created role of Group Chief Strategy Officer – Engineering from April 1, focusing on long-term capability building and infrastructure expansion. Jeremy Yew, a seasoned aviation engineering executive with over two decades of experience, will take charge of day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations.

Air India has cancelled 28 international flights scheduled to operate between India and major destinations in the United States and Europe, citing operational adjustments and network optimization measures. The affected services span key long-haul routes, prompting passenger rescheduling and logistical recalibration. 

India’s civil aviation regulator has imposed a Rs 1 crore penalty on Air India, underscoring heightened regulatory scrutiny over operational discipline and passenger safety. The fine reflects persistent compliance shortcomings identified during regulatory audits, at a time when the airline is undergoing an ambitious transformation and fleet modernization drive. The action signals a clear message to the aviation industry that scale, ownership changes or revival plans do not dilute accountability.
