In a historic leadership transition, Klaus Schwab, founder and long-serving Chairperson of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has officially stepped down from his roles on the board, ending a tenure that spanned over five decades. Schwab, who launched the WEF in 1971, informed the board of trustees that he would relinquish his position effective immediately as he enters his 88th year. Vice Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe has been appointed interim Chair, while a formal search process begins for Schwab’s successor.
